Cenote Dos Ojos (Two Eyes)
Dos Ojos cenote is a stunning natural sinkhole located near Tulum, Mexico, that is renowned for its crystal-clear waters and connection to the Sac Actun cave system. The name “Dos Ojos” translates to “Two Eyes,” and refers to the two circular openings in the surface of the cenote that allow light to penetrate the otherwise dark interior. One of the eyes is home to a bat cave cavern, adding an extra layer of intrigue to this already unique destination. The water clarity and temperature at Dos Ojos are some of the best in the Yucatan Peninsula, making it a popular destination for snorkelers and divers. Visitors can take a dip in the refreshing waters, explore the cave system, or simply enjoy the stunning beauty of this unique ecosystem. The connection to the larger Sac Actun system, one of the largest underwater cave systems in the world, makes Dos Ojos a must-visit destination for anyone looking to experience the unique beauty of the Yucatan Peninsula’s underwater world.
There are good food stands and shops very close to the cenote entrance. Bring cash with you if you want to buy stuff though, because they don’t accept cards.
