Santa Rosa Wall, Cozumel

Wild Irregular Landscape Of Santa Rosa

Cozumel offers some of the best Scuba Diving in the Caribbean and the Santa Rosa Wall is one of its most fascinating dive sites. Its location is easily accessible from shore making it popular with dive operators.

There are a few different routes you can take along Santa Rosa. The site is fundamentally a steep wall. However, there are many irregular shapes, sandy plateaus, and rocky ledges on the way down. At the very top, there is a sandy area with some coral heads and loads of fish. There are large coral overhangs along the ridge. You can simply glide along the top of the wall and have a great dive because there is plenty to see there. If you dive down deeper, the asymmetrical landscape makes it feel like you aren’t diving on a wall at all. There are all kinds of swim throughs, protruding mountainous rocks with corals, and sections where the wall levels off before dropping back down again.

This is a very pretty dive because of the abundance of corals and marine life. The visibility is very good under typical conditions. There is a current that can sometimes be strong, which is fun, but also can be a little bit dangerous for beginner divers who risk get separated from their group by the current.
